PEABODY — Two people were arrested for fentanyl trafficking after an investigation by the Peabody and Beverly Police drug units, which spanned several months.
Giovanny G. Ortiz, 25, and Dorileni E. Dume-Vittini, 28, both of Peabody, were each charged with trafficking fentanyl. Both are expected to be arraigned in Peabody District Court on Tuesday.
Peabody Police and Beverly Police Drug Unit detectives executed a search warrant last Friday at 50 Warren St., Apt. 609, where the two suspects reside, Peabody Police said.
A search of the residence and the suspect’s car resulted in the seizure of approximately 52 grams of fentanyl, more than $2,000 in cash, a 2014 Ford Edge allegedly used in drug transactions, along with several items consistent with the processing, packaging and sale of illegal narcotics, police said.
Massachusetts State Police K9 Trooper Matt McDevitt and his K9 partner Fathom assisted in the execution of the search warrant, police said.
The ongoing investigation was initiated following numerous complaints from neighbors regarding suspected illegal drug transactions occurring in public areas in the east end of Peabody, police said.
