SAUGUS — In honor of Earth Day, volunteers will clean up the banks of the Saugus River in Saugus and Lynn on April 21 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Saugus River Watershed Council, Lynn Conservation Commission, Bike to the Sea, and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation are leading the effort. Cleanup will start at Marshview Park in Lynn and follow along areas of the bike trail in Saugus, and the banks of the Saugus River in both Lynn and Saugus.
Gloves, bags, tools, coffee, donuts, and water will be provided for volunteers. Those interested in assisting in the cleanup should bring gardening tools and rubber boots.
“Marshview Park acts as an important gateway between Lynn and Saugus and provides beautiful views of the Saugus River,” said Joan LeBlanc, executive director of the Saugus River Watershed Council. “Students looking for community service hours are encouraged to help out on Saturday.”
