LYNN — Classical High School students Destiny Guy, Bianca Morales, Edwin Rodriguez, Anabel Vega, Adriana Day-Santiago and teacher Kaleigh Young represented their school as Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine for the annual Career Development Conference.
The team finished in first place for the “Know It All” competition, a competition consisting of 60 trivia questions relating to leadership and career development, financial literacy, time management, tax preparation, and philanthropy.
“It is rare for a first year program to place first. Congratulations to the students on their success and hard work throughout the year,” said Kaleigh Young, Classical JAG program teacher.
JAG program high school seniors are taught skills needed for life post-graduation such as job search and attainment, financial literacy, and proper decision making. The Maine conference drew 60 JAG programs with over 600 students, said Young.
The JAG students showed off skills learned throughout the year and competed for trophies.
This is the first year Classical’s JAG team attended the conference, representing the school as a first-year JAG program.
