Lynn Elementary basketball tourney tips off

The 41st Annual Lynn Elementary Basketball Tournament kicked off on Wednesday at Pickering Middle School with a slate of 3 games.

The first game of the tournament saw the girls of Drewicz take on the Cobbet Cougars. Drewicz led this one from wire to wire and came away with the 36-6 win. Sisters Keisha and Deleisha Perez paced Drewicz with 20 and 10 points, respectively. Shania Warner and Josanny German were the high scorers for Cobbet. Drewicz will play Tracy next Wednesday at 3:30.


In the first boys game of the day, Callahan was matched up against Connery. Callahan was able to pull off the 24-4 victory behind 10 points from Kameron Rucker and seven from Isac Medina. Callahan takes on Hood next Wednesday at 4:45.

The day’s final game saw the Lynn Woods girls defending their City Championship against Washington. Lynn Woods trailed by one at the half but was able to eke out the three point victory. Amanda Hughes and Rylee Thompson were the high scorers for Lynn Woods. Washington’s high scorer was Stephanie Sam. Lynn Woods will take on the winner of the Sisson/Lincoln-Thomson game next Wednesday at 6.


Play resumes Thursday with four more games at Pickering (if there is school). All games are open to the public and admission is $1.
