SAUGUS — A man charged with robbing Chisholm’s Motor Inn, assaulting an employee, and tying him up with shoelaces has been arrested by Boston Police.
John Bowden, 47, of Melrose, is charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery after he allegedly walked into the motel’s office and demanded money from the register.
A manager at Chisholm’s Motor Inn was reportedly hit in the face multiple times and Bowden allegedly ordered him to give him money out of the register last Tuesday morning. He then tied up the employee’s hands with shoelaces and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victim suffered injuries to his face, but did not require medical attention. He was able to free himself and call 911.
Bowden was identified in an investigation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was later arrested by Boston Police on separate charges and will be arraigned in Lynn District Court at a later date.
