SAUGUS — A manager at Chisholm’s Motor Inn was reportedly tied up with shoe laces during an attempted burglary early Tuesday morning.
At 4:27 a.m., a caller reported an attempted robbery at the motel and that the manager had been tied up, according to the police log.
Saugus Police Lt. Ronald Giorgetti said the suspect, described as a 6-foot-tall white male wearing a sweatshirt, entered the motel office, assaulted the attendant and restrained his hands.
He demanded and removed an unknown sum of cash from the register and fled on foot, he said. The attendant was able to remove the restraints, which were described in the log to be shoelaces, and call police.
“This is still under investigation but I believe were close to identifying who is responsible,” said Giorgetti.
