SAUGUS — You’ve heard of the Hamburglar at McDonald’s but in Saugus, there are cookie thieves.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, a McDonald’s restaurant employee reported three male youths had smoked pot inside the building, then stole a display case of cookies at the 127 Broadway restaurant, according to the Saugus Police log.
Police Lt. Ronald Giorgetti said the three teenagers first purchased two apple pies from the fast-food restaurant and left.
“They re-entered the store at a later time and removed a plexiglass display case of cookies,” said Giorgetti.
The display case was found in the parking lot.
“All cookies had been removed,” he said.
Before the boys left in a gray vehicle, they allegedly struck a woman entering the restaurant with the door as they left the establishment. The woman refused medical treatment on scene but said she would seek it on her own.
Giorgetti said the incident remains under investigation.
