SAUGUS — A school van operator struck two parked cars and a dumpster, which was pushed into Saugus High School on Tuesday afternoon.
Saugus Police Lt. Ronald Giorgetti said the operator of a school transportation van, who is contracted by the town but is not a town employee, struck the cars, which in turn struck a dumpster, then the building, shortly after 3:30 p.m. The van was marked as a Mass Tran vehicle. The Danvers-based, full-service transportation company services all of New England, according to its website.
Giorgetti said he did not believe any children were inside the van at the time of the accident. The driver was brought to a local hospital for evaluation and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
