SAUGUS — Police are investigating a home invasion after a group of men allegedly broke into a Garfield Avenue home, armed with bats and metal shovels.
Multiple people entered the two-family home through a window, and assaulted a man and woman who live there shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Friday, said Saugus Police Lt. Ronald Giorgetti. Police are actively investigating to identify the intruders.
“It appears they were armed with bats, metal shovels, and other blunt objects,” said Giorgetti. “We believe the occupants of the house were targeted by the individuals. This was not a random act.”
The thieves successfully robbed the home, but police are not releasing details about the stolen items while the investigation is active, he said.
