Police: A Lynn liquor store clerk chased a knife-wielding thief down the street

LYNN — A Lucky’s Liquors employee chased a masked man with a knife down the street after he attempted to rob the shop’s clerk.

The employee, described by Lynn Police as the clerk’s husband, reportedly chased the knife-wielding robber with a sap, which is a flat, leather-covered lead rod.

“It’s not much of a weapon,” said Police Lt. Michael Kmiec.

Lynn police are looking for a suspect described as a heavy-set black male after he entered the Lewis Street store with a knife and demanded money, said Kmiec.

“The female clerk froze and moved away from the suspect and another clerk in the back area heard the commotion and chased him out and down the street,” he said.

The thief didn’t make out with any money, he said. The attempted armed robbery remains under investigation by Lynn Police.
