NAHANT — Several crews from seven towns battled a three-alarm fire that tore through a home on Wilson Road for more than three hours in frigid temperatures Monday.
“The fire has been knocked down, and it’s certainly under investigation,” said Fire Chief Michael Feinberg.
Nobody was inside the house when the Nahant Fire Department responded to calls of smoke coming from the roof of 238 Wilson Road shortly after 1 p.m., according to Nahant Police.
Firefighters from Lynn, Nahant, Marblehead, Swampscott, Lynnfield, Saugus, and Revere converged on the street and smoke from the fire could be seen drifting from Nahant to the ocean. Fire scene commanders struck three alarms to bring multiple crews to the home.
Neighbors say the house recently underwent renovations, and they believe it is a summer home. The five-bedroom structure with ocean views was sold in September 2016 for $600,000, according to Patriot Properties.
“I’m just so glad that nobody was home,” said resident Joanne Fucile. “We have a small fire department. I’m glad we have the help from so many of these towns.”
