WRENTHAM — Tristan Shelgren of St.. John’s Prep defeated Newton North’s Andrew Mah for first place in the Eastern Mass. Cross Country sectional Saturday at the Wrentham Developmental Center.
The Bishop Fenwick girls won the Division 6 meet, finishing eight points ahead of Ipswich.
Shelgren, a senior, was seven seconds better than Mah, 15:14.76 to 15:21.76.
In Division 1 girls, Peabody’s Lillian Brennan, at 77, was the top local finisher.
In Division 2 boys, Beverly’s Jackson Wood was the top local finisher while the Panthers’ Ashley Foley finished sixth.
In Division 3 boys, Joseph Lauretti-Pereira of Danvers was 29th, tops in the area while Kristen Twaalfhoven of Marblehead was 36th, the best local finisher in that group.
Salem’s William beauregard was 40th to top local finishers in Division 4 boys, while Gloucester’s Christina Jones was In Division 5 boys, Patrick Doucette of Swampscott, at 52nd, was the top local finisher while teammate Gigi Dishman was 79th.
Bishop Fenwick made a good showing in Division 6. Zach Mizioch finished 12th in 17:52.76, with teammate Aiden Hill four seconds behind.
For the girls, Kate DelTorchio was eighth, and Ava Mahoney 10th. Joy Wambui finished 13th. St. Mary’s Nicolette D’Itria was 16th.
