DANVERS — Lynn Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy and David Solimine Sr. of Lynn helped Care Dimensions honor John F. Sacherski for his service to his country.
Sacherski of Lynn received a Care Dimensions We Honor Veterans Award honoring individuals nominated by members of the community for their commitment to improving the lives of veterans.
Sacherski was nominated by Dale Lemure and Solimine.
As a Level Four Partner of the We Honor Veterans program, Care Dimensions, in a statement, said it has joined together with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization to empower hospice professionals to meet the unique needs of dying veterans.
The program teaches respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement — to comfort patients with a history of military service and possibly physical or psychological trauma.
Kennedy and Solimine, a longtime Lynn veterans advocate, saluted Sacherski and other award winners during last Thursday’s celebratory breakfast in Danvers, including honorable mention recipient Dave Dragan of Marblehead, Roger Leger of Salem and other recipients from northeastern Massachusetts.
