SWAMPSCOTT — The Swampscott Contributory Retirement Board is seeking applicants to fill its fifth member position.
The three-year term will commence on Jan. 7. In accordance with state law, the fifth member cannot be an employee, retiree or official of the town of Swampscott and will be chosen by the other four board members.
The retirement board meets once a month at Swampscott Town Hall. Additional meetings are sometimes required.
Prior to assuming the position, the board members are required to complete and submit certain disclosures and forms including: Chapter 268A (Conflict of Interest Law)/Chapter 32 (Retirement Law) Compliance Pledge, Annual Eligibility Certification, and an Annual Statement of Financial Interest. The first statement is due after appointment, to the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC).
Board members are required to earn 18 hours of education credits during the term in order to meet the statutory education mandate.
