Edson Alas found the back of the net but it wasn’t enough for the Lynn Tech boys soccer team as the Tigers fell, 4-1, to Whittier Tech. With the loss, the Tigers are eliminated from state tournament contention.
“I don’t want to base our season on our wins and losses,” Tech coach Jeremy McKeen said. “I’m proud of this group of players. They improved a lot and I enjoy coaching them.”
Alas tied the game at 1-1 with a penalty kick before Whittier Tech scored three goals to seal the win.
“We had about 100 runs to the goal and 50 shots,” McKeen said. “They got a goal with about 14 minutes left in the first half. We tied it on a penalty kick in the second half and then we sort of got worn down. It was a hard-fought loss. Our guys did everything right except put the ball in the net.”
McKeen praised Jose Zacarias and Thomas Khai for strong performances at forward and defender, respectively.
Tech ends its season on Thursday when the Tigers host Greater Lowell.
