REVERE — The body of a Boston woman was found at the shoreline of Revere Beach on Thursday morning. Authorities said the death “does not appear to be the result of criminal conduct.”
A passerby alerted troopers at 6:05 a.m. to the body on the beach near the intersection of Shirley Avenue and Revere Beach Boulevard, State Police spokesman David Procopio said in a statement.
Procopio said the body was of an adult woman, and that it did not bear “any obvious or immediately apparent signs of trauma.” He said the investigation into the facts and circumstances of the death is ongoing.
Procopio said the woman has been tentatively identified by State Police investigators, but her name is not being released until next-of-kin notification has been completed. An autopsy will be conducted by the office of the chief medical examiner.
“Based on a physical examination and evidence at the scene, the death of a Boston woman found on Revere Beach this morning does not appear to be the result of criminal conduct,” said Jake Wark, spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
Wark said the office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of the woman’s death following further testing.
The body was removed from the scene shortly after 8 a.m.
