An error on the Ward 3 final election ballot will cost the city about $250 to reprint.
George Meimeteas, a City Council candidate seeking to replace City Council President Darren Cyr, noticed his address was incorrect on the sample ballot the Election Office posted online last week on the city’s website.
In an email to the city, Meimeteas said the ballot had a wrong address for him and it should be 30 Kings Beach Road. In addition, he said his middle initial should be removed.
“A voter called me and said ‘George, I didn’t know you moved,’ so I contacted the city,” he said.
City Clerk Janet Rowe said when the error was brought to her attention late Friday night, her office removed the sample ballot online and ordered the new paper ballots.
“It’s all taken care of,” she said. “It was a data entry error and we don’t even know how it happened. But we caught it in plenty of time.”
The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7.
