MEDFORD — A city elementary school was locked down for about an hour Tuesday when local and state police responded to a report of a man in the neighborhood with a knife in each hand.
The man was reported on Hicks Avenue about 100 yards from the front door of the Columbus Elementary School in South Medford late Tuesday morning.
The call came in to Medford Police around 11:30 a.m. and both local and state police responded to the scene and school officials ordered a shelter in place lockdown for the school and all its staff members and students.
Just over an hour later, around 12:40 p.m., police took an unidentified male suspect into custody and away from the scene by ambulance, according to reports.
No injuries were reported.
