MARBLEHEAD — The SPUR Community Roots Garden at The Church of St. Andrew has rounded off summer by delivering 500 pounds of fresh produce to area food pantries.
SPUR board member Kristen Clay said organization members harvested and delivered 4,400 green beans, 300 cucumbers, 90 zucchini and summer squash, 75 eggplants and lots of tomatoes.
“With fall nearing, we have planted seeds for beets, radishes, kale and swiss chard. Spinach and lettuce will also be planted soon. There are still harvesting opportunities open and available throughout September,” Clay said.
