Two Lynn men were arrested early Saturday morning after leading police on a pursuit from Wakefield to Plymouth in a stolen sports utility vehicle, and hitting four State Police cruisers in the process.
The driver, Timothy Crane, 24, was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and other motor vehicle offenses.
The passenger, Darian Almonte, 19, was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.
The hourlong chase started at 11:30 p.m. Friday, when Wakefield Police reported that they were following a 2010 Ford Explorer, which had been reported stolen out of Lynn earlier that evening, state police said.
Wakefield officers followed the stolen SUV onto Route 128 southbound and updated their positions to responding State Police troopers.
State Police troopers took the primary position on the pursuit as it continued south on Route 128/95 toward Waltham. The SUV repeatedly refused to stop for pursuing police cruisers, state police said.
The pursuit continued southbound from Route 95 onto Route 93, and then onto Route 3. In Plymouth around Exit 8, troopers deployed a tire deflation device, disabling the tires on the stolen SUV, state police said.
Troopers were able to stop the car and the two Lynn men were arrested about an hour after the stolen SUV had first been located in Wakefield, state police said.
Crane and Almonte are being held at the Plymouth House of Correction until their court appearance on Tuesday.
