SAUGUS — A suspected fentanyl overdose prompted a response from police and a hazardous materials team on Sunday afternoon.
The overdose victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., police responded to an overdose on Wickford Street, and found a substance believed to be fentanyl, Saugus police said.
Police coordinated with the Saugus Fire Department, which took control of the scene and initiated a Tier 1 hazardous materials situation, and a hazmat team was called. The scene was cleared at 5:45 p.m.
