A pilot program for “smart parking meters” is now underway on Broadway. Meters have been installed that accept coins, credit/debit cards, or payment via the Sentry Mobile app, downloadable by phone.
After the one month pilot, the city will assess the results and consider replacing the current parking meters in other business districts.
“Our hope is that this program makes the process of finding and feeding a meter more convenient,” said Joe Gravellese, aide to Mayor Brian Arrigo.
The meter pilot program is underway on Broadway between Pleasant Street and Central Avenue with the installation of 14 meters. The meters process payments via mobile app, credit/debit card, or cash; partner with an app that shows users current parking spot availability; and offer additional public safety and messaging features.
Download the Sentry Mobile app on iTunes or Android to operate these meters via app during the pilot program.
