SWAMPSCOTT — The Swampscott Sox grabbed a commanding 2-0 lead in their best-of-five North Shore Baseball League semifinal series Sunday night with a 7-4 win over Peabody Champions at the middle school field thanks to a walkoff grand slam by Elvis Rodriguez.
Peabody, which lost the first game of the series, 10-1, Saturday, took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before Rodriguez struck.
The playoffs are down to four teams, with the Kingston Night Owls playing the Beverly Recs in the other series.
The third game will be played tonight (6:30) at the middle school baseball field.
