MALDEN — A dozen Malden High School students who wrapped up their summer session requirements are heading into the end of the summer with diplomas.
“It takes perseverance for these seniors to stick to it and finish their requirements and get those credits they needed,” said high school Principal Ted Lombardi, adding, “Some students do not follow through with those requirements, and it is a shame because we have these steps available for them.”
Most of the Class of 2017 received diplomas on June 4. The dozen students still working on graduation requirements displayed what Lombardi called “stick to it” spirit by attending the summer session.
Lombardi said reasons for students wrapped up their graduation requirements this summer varied from student to student.
“There are a lot of reasons students may not meet the graduation requirements and have enough class credits to be awarded a diploma in June. Some of the reasons are out of their control,” he said. “We commend them for taking this extra step and completing the task of earning their high school diploma.”
