Lynn’s Wyoma Red Sox Little league team will have the chance of a lifetime this Friday.
After winning the Salem Five “Uncomplicate Hitting” video contest, the team will take part in a hitting clinic experience with Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia at the Majors Field in Wyoma Square, Lynn, on July 28.
The Wyoma Red Sox shared a video demonstrating their passion, pride and spirit to succeed; they just need a little hitting help. They went on to explain that, although their coaches are terrific, they could really benefit from Dustin’s professional help. Their winning video received nearly 10,000 votes back in June.
“These kids pour their heart into every practice and every game. As volunteer coaches, most of us with very little experience, we do what we can to teach them the fundamentals, but we could definitely use some expert help,” said coach Kevin Ronningen. “Winning this contest has put these kids over the moon. To have a chance to not only meet Dustin Pedroia, but to learn from him, will forever shape the way they look at the game.”
The contest is the latest evolution of Salem Five’s new brand platform, built around the tagline “Let’s Uncomplicate Money.” Launched in September 2016, the platform embodies Salem Five’s realistic approach to finances. The bank aims to help customers spend more time enjoying life and less time worrying about finances.
“The Wyoma Red Sox team’s philosophy on hitting is very similar to Salem Five’s philosophy on managing finances: It helps to get advice from an expert coach,” said Martha Acworth, chief marketing officer at Salem Five. “We congratulate them for submitting a terrific video and want to thank all of our finalists for their enthusiastic participation.”
During Salem Five’s nine-year partnership with Pedroia, he has participated in community events and acted as spokesman for the bank’s award-winning Gold Star Saver program, which helps to make financial literacy and responsibility accessible and fun for children.
