MEDFORD — A local man charged with attacking a man with a screwdriver was ordered held without bail until a dangerousness hearing next Tuesday.
Junior Dornevil, 28, pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; assault with intent to maim; mayhem; and disorderly conduct, Tuesday in Somerville District Court, according to a Middlesex District Attorney’s office representative.
Prosecutors said Dornevil stabbed the victim in the head with the screwdriver outside a Station Landing coffee shop as the man tied his shoes. Authorities described the man’s injuries as serious but non life-threatening and said Dornevil and the victim did not know one another.
Massachusetts State Police were called to the Station Landing commercial complex at Wellington Circle at 9:30 a.m. State troopers located Dornevil at the nearby Wellington MBTA station with the screwdriver allegedly used in the incident in his possession.
