Revere residents and drivers in the city are alerted by Mayor Brian Arrigo’s office and the Police Department to a “major” water main break on Broadway in front of East Boston Savings Bank Wednesday morning closing several downtown streets to traffic.
Revere police said the break has closed Broadway from Mountain Avenue to Cushman Avenue; Coolidge Street from Broadway to Constitution Avenue and Proctor Avenue from Broadway to B Street.
Arrigo’s office in an 8 a.m. statement stated the break occurred in a 12-inch water main in front of the bank.
“This has caused numerous residents and businesses to temporarily lose water service. The entire length of Broadway from Cushman Ave to Mountain Ave is impacted, as are parts of Proctor, Cummings, Elmwood, and Cooledge,” the mayor’s office stated, adding, “This is a major break and the process to restore service could take much of the day.”
