PEABODY — A police investigation of possible drug trafficking at the Plaza Motel on Newbury Street last Friday led to four arrests.
The main target of the investigation was Daryll Reynolds, 30, of Lynn, who was arrested in the parking lot of the motel.
Reynolds was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute Class A and B drugs, in addition to a warrant from Lynn District Court.
William Licciardi, 51, and Joyce Venetsanakos, 42, both of Lynn, were also arrested at the motel on drug trafficking charges.
A fourth person found in the car with Reynolds was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant. Police did not release the fourth suspect’s name.
Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin said the operation was launched by the Lynn District Court Probation Department with the assistance of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC).
Griffin said law enforcement initially believed Reynolds was at a motel in Danvers, and city police became involved when they learned he was en route to Peabody.
Believing Reynolds to be armed and in possession of narcotics, a SWAT team with NEMLEC was activated because police suspected Reynolds was armed. Licciardi and Venetsanakos were arrested in their rooms.
About an hour later, at 7 p.m., Reynolds was also placed into custody.
Griffin said no one was hurt during the operation.
“That’s the good thing about working with a SWAT team: They’re very professional,” he said.
