LYNN — Two men were arrested on Monday afternoon after an alleged heroin deal.
An officer from the Lynn Police Drug Task Force became suspicious of a possible drug transaction after witnessing what appeared to be a meaningless ride in the Highlands.
The car, driven by Matthew Myslinski, 25, of Salem, was seen pulling over on Adams Street, where Brelin Espinal, 34, of Lynn, allegedly got in, Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.
Donnelly said the car drove about 150 yards, when Espinal got out. Suspecting a drug deal, police followed the car, and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Western Avenue.
Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found a bag of heroin, along with 61 Gabapentin pills in a stool softener bottle. The latter is used as an anti-epileptic medication that is also used to treat nerve pain.
Myslinski was arrested and charged with Class A (heroin) possession and Class E (Gabapentin) possession with intent to distribute.
Espinal was stopped on Adams Street. Based on the detectives’ information from the car stop, he was arrested for heroin distribution. Police didn’t find any drugs on him, but he did have $296 in cash, Donnelly said.
