The Marblehead swim team continued its hot start to the season, beating Peabody, 95-83, to move to 6-0 on the year. The Magicians had three double-winners on the day, as Amanda Wager won the 200-yard freestyle (two minutes, 3.23 seconds) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.10), Ellie Ronan won the 200 individual medley (2:18.88) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.18) and Meghan Hathaway won the 100 butterfly (1:01.87) and the 500 freestyle (5:22.04). Tom Rockett also took home an individual win, placing first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.57 seconds. The team of Ronan, Hathaway, Wager and Rockett also won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.91.
The Magicians will put their unbeaten streak to the test on Thursday when they go up against Beverly.
For Peabody (4-2), Conor McCarthy won the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Cailin Currie, Kirsten Currie, Cana Teague, and Millie Teague qualified for MIAA North Sectionals.
The Tanners next meet Lynn Classical at Lynn Tech on Thursday.
SWIMMING
Archbishop Williams 91, St. Mary’s 74
Despite the loss on Tuesday afternoon, the Spartans saw Eve Smith qualify for sectionals in the 500 freestyle, finishing in first place with a time of 5:47.50. Other winners for St. Mary’s were Gabi Marchese in the 200 individual medley (2:31.31) and Danny Rodriguez in the 50 freestyle (27.87).
The Spartans (1-1) have a busy weekend ahead, with meets on Saturday against Arlington Catholic and on Sunday against Austin Prep.
Lynn Classical 107, Gloucester 76
The Rams evened their record at 3-3 with a win at the Lynn Tech pool on Tuesday evening. Harrison Seitz won both the 100 and 200 freestyle races, and was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team along with Elias Bakas, Sydney St. Ives and Jacob Lang. Bakas won the 100 breaststroke as an individual. Other winners for Classical were Alex Pedro in the 50 freestyle, Eric Macorri in the 200 individual medley, Carly Mendonca in the 100 backstroke and Sarah Sirois in diving. The 200 medley relay team of Macorri, Mendonca, Pedro and Rachel Brennan also finished first.
Classical is back in the pool tomorrow afternoon against Peabody.
Bishop Fenwick 88, Cardinal Spellman 61
Fenwick had two double-winners on Tuesday night, with Catherine Christuk winning the 200 individual medley (2:21.19) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.94) and Rowan Emerson winning the 50 freestyle (26.09) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.31). Other individual winners for the Crusaders (4-0) were Connor Christuk in the 100 freestyle (52.20), Sophia Lumino in the 200 freestyle (2:10.95), Garrett Collins in the 100 butterfly (1:06.29) and Sarah Long in the 500 freestyle (6:43.53).
Fenwick also swept the relays, with the team of Lumino, Collins, Connor Christuk and Bryce McCarthy winning the 200 medley relay (2:05.87), the team of Emerson, McCarthy Connor Christuk and Michael D’Iorio winning the 200 freestyle relay (1:57.53) and the team of Collins, Emerson, Catherine Christuk and Joie Dillon winning the 400 freestyle relay (4:22.38).
Danvers 103, Lynn English 73
English (2-3) had several second-place finishers on the night, with Shanel Turransky in diving, Peter Phelan in the 100 freestyle and Emma Trahant in the 100 freestyle. The 400 freestyle relay team of Trahant, Phelan, Amanda Fabrizio and Caroline Zuffante also finished in second place.
The Bulldogs will face off against Gloucester on Thursday night.
Salem 92, Swampscott 75
The Big Blue (0-6) got wins from Casey Kennedy in the 200 freestyle and Will Cronin in the 100 backstroke.
