LYNN — Golf balls will be raining from the sky Monday and it could make lucky participants a big chunk of money at the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf tournament.
Numbered golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter. If a golfer purchased a ball that has the same number as those that land closest to the pin on a designated green, prizes up to $10,000 can be won.
Here’s how it works: Three golf ball numbers will be selected by Grand Prize Promotions on Thursday and mailed to the LACC in a sealed envelope. Each number is assigned to a prize: $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500. If any of the three numbers picked match any of the three balls that are in the designated hole or closest to the pin, that person wins the prize assigned to the number.
The LACC guarantees the following top three prizes even if the numbers don’t match: first prize — one round of golf for three at Ferncroft Country Club; second prize — four Red Sox tickets; third prize — $100 cash.
To purchase golf balls — one for $20, three for $50 or seven for $100 — go to golfballcharity.com/cartadd. You will be issued a golf ball number on a receipt emailed to you via the sponsor, GolfBallCharity.com. Those who purchase a golf ball are invited to attend the LACC barbecue after the tournament. Deadline to play is Sunday. Cost to play golf is $175, which includes dinner. The cost to attend the barbecue is $25.
