The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs took advantage of some ill-timed errors from the North Shore Navigators to score a 6-1 win at Fraser Field on Wednesday morning.
Navigators (26-19) starter Ryan McAuliffe gave up one run in his four innings of work as Jon Kristoffersen’s solo shot in the fourth provided the game’s initial run. It stayed 1-0 until the top of the eighth when things came unglued for the Navs.
Reliever Daniel Metzdorf loaded the bases and then threw away a bunt from Max DiTondo to score one run. A wild pitch scored another run and another throwing error extended the lead to 5-0.The Navigators got their lone run of the day in the bottom of the eighth as pinch runner Tanner Bush scored on Brandon Fischer’s fielder’s choice. Wachusett got that run right back in the top of the ninth to close the scoring.
