The North Shore Navigators let a 7-2 lead slip away and it resulted in an 8-7, 13 inning loss to the Seacoast Mavericks on Tuesday night in Manchester, N.H.
The Navs had a 7-3 lead entering the bottom of the eighth, but Seacoast scored three times and then tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on Louis Mele’s single that plated Ryan Gendron.
It stayed that way until the bottom of the 13thwhen Navigators reliever Pete Gonski (Salem State) loaded the bases with no outs. After retiring Michael Purcell, Gonski plunked Evan Brown to score Max McCoomb with the winning run.The ending overshadowed a monster day at the plate for Navigators second baseman Richie Fecteau (Salem State), who cranked two home runs. Maxx Sheehan (Franklin Pierce was 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI and Chad Martin (Bowdoin) also had two hits in the game for North Shore.
