After grabbing a close win in their New England Football League opener last week, the North Shore Generals lost to the Boston Bandits, 13-9, at Scagnoli-Nihill Field in Jamaica Plain on Saturday.
The Bandits struck first in the first quarter. After moving down the field, Boston quarterback Adam Healey hit Darryl Hodge for an 8-yard touchdown pass to get on the board. After Chris Conroy’s PAT, the Bandits led, 7-0.
The Generals had a tough time scoring, but they managed to break through in the second quarter when kicker Klenis Haxhiaj hit a 38-yard field goal to make it 7-3 at the half.
After neither team scored in the third quarter, the Bandits got two field goals from Conroy (38 and 42 yards) to extend the lead to 13-3.
The Generals threatened a comeback late, when quarterback Kelvin Amparo hit Jesse Pierce for a 35-yard touchdown pass to get within 4. But the Generals couldn’t convert the PAT, and they never got the ball back.The Generals are back in action on Saturday when they host the Northeast Natives at 7 p.m. at Manning Field.
