Jonathan Nicosia pitched a complete game while Briston Maynard, Eric Pedro and Kyle Bernardini powered the offense as the Lynn 15-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars beat Arlington, 8-3, in the Eastern Massachusetts tournament at World Series Park in Saugus.
?It?s a good start for us,” Lynn manager Pete Dawson said. “We were very good in the field and our bats were going pretty good.”
Nicosia held Arlington to four hits.
Lynn broke out to a 2-0 lead in the first on RBIs from Maynard, who had two hits, and Nicosia but Arlington tied it in the bottom of the inning. Lynn added single runs in the second and fourth innings before breaking the game open with a four-run fifth.
Pedro, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, had the big hit of the inning with a two-run double. Bernardini also recorded a pair of hits for Lynn.Babe Ruth 13s
Arlington 4, Peabody 0
The District 1 champions couldn?t get anything going offensively as J.C. Espinal had the only two hits of the game for Peabody.
?That was a talented team we went up against,” Peabody manager Chip Guiney said. “They really kept us in check.”
