SAUGUS – A murder committed solely by a delusional Lee Harvey Oswald? Or an intricately planned assassination by his own administration and trusted colleagues?Author Peter Janney, son of a former CIA agent, asks these questions and more in his book, “Mary?s Mosaic: The CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and Their Vision for World Peace.”Earlier this month, Janney spoke to an intrigued audience at the Saugus Public Library about his book and the link between the assassination of Kennedy and the mysterious murder of one of Kennedy?s lovers, Mary Pinchot Meyer.?Eighty percent of people believe that some sort of conspiracy took place in Dallas in 1963,” said Janney about the public?s belief, expressed in numerous polls, that Oswald was not solely responsible for Kennedy?s death.Janney believes the CIA organized the murder of Kennedy and Meyer, who was shot and killed in a public park in Washington, D.C. a short while after Kennedy?s death. Meyer?s murder remains unsolved.?Mary was a threat to the administration because she became aware of the conspiracy,” said Janney, offering a reason the CIA would want Meyer dead.Meyer was intelligent and independent, and Kennedy admired that, according to Janney. Janney also said Meyer?s views and opinions on world affairs influenced Kennedy?s political decisions – decisions others in his administration may not have appreciated, leading them to kill Kennedy.According to Janney and library director, Diane Wallace, 38 people attended and were captivated by Janney?s presentation.?Everyone felt like the information was top-notch,” said Wallace.Wallace also said Janney?s visit resulted in the most books ever sold at a Saugus Library event, selling around 30 of Janney?s books by the end of the night.?People asked a number of pertinent questions,” said Janney.Wallace said everyone was happy to have Janney come and talk about his controversial book nearing the 50th anniversary of Kennedy?s death.?It was one of our more interesting nights,” said Wallace.
