LYNN —Â An MBTA spokesperson said a bus was immediately removed from service after a commuter Friday posted a video of rain pouring inside the vehicle’s window as it traveled from Lynn.
“The bus was taken out of service at Wonderland on that run,” Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Spokesperson Kelly Smith wrote in an email Sunday. She said the service was not delayed on Friday nor should service on the 441 route be delayed today.
A commuter told local media he had gotten on the 441 bus in Lynn to commute into Boston Friday morning. Scott Fisher told Channel 7 news he was huddled in the aisle of the bus with other commuters minutes later and he took out his phone and started filming the rain pouring down from above the bus window and splashing the seats.
The video was posted the video online under the title “Ghetto bus MBTA route 441” where it was soon viewed by Channel 7. It was also viewed by the MBTA, the news station reported. The commuter’s Twitter feed is now followed by the MBTA.
Smith said she was not sure on whether repairs had been completed as of Sunday but the bus was taken out of service on that Friday trip when it reached the Wonderland MBTA Station.
Fisher could not be reached Sunday evening, but he referenced the video on Twitter, posting “this happens far too often” and writing that the bus had already been stuck for 10 minutes when the rain came pouring in.
