BOSTON ? State transportation officials are closing the Ted Williams Tunnel and Interstate-90 westbound late Tuesday night into early Thursday morning for maintenance.The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will close all lanes in the Ted Williams Tunnel and I-90 westbound at midnight Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday.Beginning in East Boston, I-90 westbound traffic will be diverted to the Sumner Tunnel. Inside the Sumner Tunnel, traffic should keep right and take the Storrow Drive ramp to reach Leverett Circle. From Leverett Circle, take I-93 southbound to access I-90 westbound. A second detour will be active for truckers. Trucks will be directed northbound on Route 1A to Route 16 Westbound to Route 1 southbound (over the Tobin Bridge) to I-93 Southbound.Maintenance crews, contractors and State and Boston police will begin set up for the lane closures Tuesday 11 p.m. Ramps that provide access to I-90 westbound will begin closing at 11:15 p.m.For more information on traffic closures and maintenance, visit MassDOT website.
