Glenn Ordway, the longtime host of WEEI radio’s “The Big Show,” has been let go by the station.Ordway, who is a Lynn Classical graduate (and a former football player at the school), confirmed reports – that had begun circulating early Wednesday afternoon – as he began his afternoon drive-time show.Ordway said the station made a decision in the company’s best interest, “and they’re entitled to that.”It’s obvious that we are not getting the ratings that we need to get on this program,” he said.WEEI had fallen behind crosstown rival WBZ-FM – particularly in comparison with the Mike Felger/Tony Massarotti afternoon show.Reportedly, Mike Salk, a Seattle sports talk show host with Boston roots, will replace Ordway. It is expected that co-host Michael Holley will remain on the show and be partnered with Salk.Ordway has been with the station since 1987. He also did Boston Celtics radio broadcasts with the late Johnny Most.Ordway had signed a multi-year deal with WEEI in 2009.He is a member of the Classical Hall of Fame.
