The Daily ItemSWAMPSCOTT – Shoppers at the Paradise Road (Vinnin Square) shopping mall may have noticed new construction of a HomeGoods store next the Stop & Shop.The TJX Company specializing in home decor is set to open Oct. 23 where TJ Maxx n- also owned by TJX n- was formerly located.TJX spokeswoman Robyn Avedon said the new HomeGoods will be approximately 23,400 square feet.”Our company has had a presence in the Swampscott area for many years, and we know that Swampscott-area shoppers embrace our brands and the off-price concept, so it was logical choice to add a HomeGoods to this vibrant shopping area. The closest HomeGoods to Swampscott is in Danvers and Saugus,” Avedon said.Asked how it is Home Goods is expanding in a time of stagnant growth for many retailers, Avedon said, “In difficult financial times, off-price retailers such as HomeGoods and our sister brands TJMaxx and Marshalls, tend to gain new customers, as shoppers are looking for value, without sacrificing quality or style.”Avedon added that HomeGoods is opening 40 stores in 2011 and added several new stores this year in the Boston area. Other than the Swampscott store, those include stores Chelsea, Allston and Dorchester.
