SAUGUS – Police say a Lynn man allegedly forced the driver of a car he got into an accident with while on his motorcycle Saturday morning to drive him away from the scene to avoid being arrested.Christopher M. Goodrum, 33, of 14 Tower Ave., #1, was charged with kidnapping, leaving the scene of property damage and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license. He was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court by Judge Albert Conlon and ordered held in lieu of $1,500 cash bail. A status review is scheduled for July 28.According to court documents, police responded to a report of an accident involving a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Main and Vine streets Saturday morning. While en route, police were told that the driver of the motorcycle had gotten into a small two-door black car driving in the direction of Main Street, abandoning the motorcycle at the accident scene.Police pulled over the car, which they say had visible damage to the front bumper, and approached the driver, who they said refused to make eye contact and appeared to have been crying and shaking.A blue motorcycle helmet and a black jacket were found in the car’s backseat, with Goodrum as the front-seat passenger. Police asked Goodrum if he had just been in an accident, and he allegedly said, “Yes, I was in an accident. See, what happened was I was pushing my bike, ’cause I ran out of gas, and a lady hit my bike. So this nice lady here is giving me a ride to my girlfriend’s house.” When asked if he needed medical attention, he said, “I’m fine. I didn’t really hurt myself, I landed the right way.”It wasn’t until after police separated the driver and Goodrum that they got another story. The victim said she was driving on Main Street when a motorcycle collided with her car. When she got out of her car and asked Goodrum if he was OK, the first words allegedly out of his mouth were, “I don’t have a license, I have to get out of here” and “Get me out of here. Are your doors locked?”At that point, the victim said Goodrum got into her car without permission, told her to drive and instructed her to tell a story to the police that she had bumped him, that his bike was out of gas and she was giving him a ride to get gas. When police asked the victim why she didn’t get out of the car, she broke down in tears and said she was scared, froze and didn’t know what to do.Goodrum was arrested and booked without incident. Police later checked his motorcycle and found that he had about a half a tank of fuel.
