The Daily ItemBostonGuest artists Lionel Richie and actor/musician Michael Chiklis head the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular’s program on July 4 alongside Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops.The event will take place on the Esplanade, an area next to the Charles River that includes the Hatch Shell and the Oval. The Oval is a restricted area between the concession area that will be set up on the day of the event and on rehearsal day, July 3, when the musical talent warms up for the nationally televised show.On July 4, the Oval will open at 9 a.m. Upon admission to the free festivities, attendees will receive a bracelet that will allow free travel in and out of the Oval. However, once the Oval is full, no more will be admitted.The concert begins at 8:30 p.m. with the National Anthem. At 9:30 p.m., the Pops will play the famous “1812 Overture” followed by fireworks at 10:30 p.m. The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will end at 11 p.m.It is recommended for those going in and out of Boston on July 3 and 4 to use public transportation, via the MBTA, commuter rail, and subway systems. The MBTA will be providing extra bus and subway service on July 4. The two closest T stations on the Boston side are Charles-MGH on the Red line and Arlington Street on the Green Line. On the Cambridge side, the Kendall and Central Square stations on the Red Line are nearby. On July 4 after 10:30 p.m., all MBTA buses, trains, and commuter rails will be free to the public.DanversThe Fireworks Festival will take place Sunday, July 3 at Plains Park at the Holten Richmond Middle School from 7-10:30 p.m., with fireworks starting at 9:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or beach chair to take advantage of music provided by DJ Chris Culkeen and acapella singers Similar Jones, as well as dancing, food, and games and rides for kids. The program will begin with a patriotic tribute to men and women who have served, featuring the Civil Air Patrol color guard and members of Operation Troop Support. At 8:30 p.m., the winner of Danvers Idol will perform on stage, followed by the announcement of a 50/50 raffle at 9 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the festivities will take place with the same schedule on Tuesday, July 5.LynnFestivities begin Sunday, July 3 at 7 p.m. with a concert featuring Lois Lane & the Daily Planets at Red Rock Park. Lynn Shore Drive and surrounding streets will close at 7:30 p.m. and remain closed until after the show. The fireworks display begins at 9 p.m. Best viewing is usually along Lynn Shore Drive and the Humphrey Street area in Swampscott.MarbleheadSunset on July 4th is at 8:23 p.m.. The Harbor Illumination is scheduled to start at 8:45 p.m. when flares are lit all around the perimeter of the harbor, creating a magnificent ring of light that sets the stage for the main event: at about 9 p.m. or a few minutes thereafter the fireworks are launched off a barge at the mouth of Marblehead Harbor, which creates ideal viewing opportunities for the public from the parks at Fort Sewall, Chandler Hovey Park, and Crocker Park, as well as for boaters,yacht club members at the five clubs that are located around the harbor as well as several private residences all around the harbor and Marblehead Neck.NahantThe Horribles Parade will take place July 3 at 5 p.m., starting at Spring Road. On July 4 there will be a Dennis Forbush Memorial Road Race will begin at 8 a.m. with registration at 7:30 a.m.. Races will be held for all ages behind the fire station beginning at 9:30 am. The fireworks will be shot off of Bailiey’s Hill at 9:15 p.m. on July 4. RPopular viewing locations include anywhere from Willow Road to the beach, and also on the town wharf.SalemThe annual July 4 fireworks in Salem will be from Derby Wharf, off Derby Street in Salem at 9″15 p.m., visible from Pickering Wharf and locations along Salem Harbor.
