LYNN – Arts After Hours will present the Tony-Award winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee June 10-19 at LynnArts, 25 Exchange St.This musical comedy send-up of a grade school spelling bee championship features six quirky “kids” and their three adult supervisors who learn that you don’t have to win to be a winner – or do you? To add a further dimension of humor to the already hilarious characters, the show features adults playing the kids’ roles. Spelling Bee creatively tackles a variety of growing pains, including peanut allergies, absentee parents and the overwhelming pressures put on kids to succeed.The Arts After Hours’ production will be in LynnArts’ Neal Rantoul Black Box Theatre. Directed by Corey Jackson (downtownlynn.com), choreographed by Danielle Girard (SCI Lynn), music directed by Gina Naggar and produced by Jocelyn Almy-Testa (TLGUTS.com), the production will feature a four-piece orchestra, full sets, lighting and sound design.”We will be transforming the LynnArts Black Box into a school gymnasium,” said set designer Ryan DuBray. “The space is so interesting.
