on May 3By Thor Jourgensen / The Daily ItemLYNN – Veterans-friendly businesses, including some prepared to help veterans fill out job applications, will be on hand for North Shore Community College’s Veterans Fair May 3, from 3-6 p.m. at the Broad Street campus.”We have upward of 25 employers confirmed who have jobs available or who will at least provide information on where to submit resumes,” North Shore Veterans Service Specialist Michael Smith said Monday.Smith said employers scheduled to send representatives to the fair include Eastern Bank, General Electric, Greater Lynn Senior Services, North Shore Medical Center and several federal agencies.Smith said organizations providing a variety of services including health care help, job search advocacy and pre collegiate programs will also attend the fair.Sponsored by the Veteran and Family Bridge Program and presented in collaboration with Salem State University and the North Shore Workforce Investment Board, NSCC’s Veterans Services & Career Fair is free and open to ALL present or former military service personnel and their families. Veterans can explore their eligibility under the new GI Bill as well as other veterans benefits. Smith said the 8,000 students attending North Shore’s Lynn, Beverly and Danvers campuses including 420 veterans and family members. He said veterans have a variety of concerns to address as they return from active duty, including overseas deployments.”They have a high degree of training and skills but often not the degrees to back up the skills. We want to show them all the services that are available,” Smith said.
