SAUGUS – State and local officials gathered at Town Hall Thursday to celebrate the homecoming of a U.S. Navy sailor from Saugus.Sean Santosuosso, son of Dean and Marie Santosuosso, served in the Navy for the past five years, three of those aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63).Upon returning home, he relocated to Amesbury with his wife and two daughters. On Thursday, state Sen. Thomas McGee, state Rep. Donald Wong, Town Manager Andrew Bisignani, Town Clerk Joanne Rappa and others joined Santosuosso’s parents and grandparents in welcoming him back home.Rappa was also in attendance as director of the Saugus Military Families Foundation. The Saugus Garden Club presented the ex-sailor with a peace lily in a basket. Representatives from the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars were also present.”We welcomed him home and thanked him for his service. We also recognized his family,” Bisignani said.Both McGee and Wong gave the returning sailor a citation from the Senate and House, respectively, as did the Board of Selectmen.Santosuosso, a 2002 Northeast Metro Tech graduate, visited several countries during his tour of duty, including Afghanistan and Qatar. He was based in Japan, home port of the USS Kitty Hawk. He was discharged as a third-class petty officer.
