The 85-degree temperatures at Disney World weren’t the only good thing for the Lynn Classical softball team this past weekend.Classical defeated Liverpool High (NY), 3-1, at the Wide World of Sports complex to improve to 4-0. The Liverpool team went 22-4 last year.Katie Cuozzo struck out three and walked one for the Rams, allowing one unearned run. Hannah Byrne went 2-for-4 and Jerrica De Los Santos went 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit RBI single that put the Rams up 2-1. Coach Chris Warren also saluted his infield, noting that “everyone was involved” on two rundown outs, and praised Mackenzie Coppinger for “two great plays” in left field – the second one a shoestring catch to end the game.GIRLS TENNISClassical 5, Revere 0In a home outing for Revere (even though it was at Breed), the Rams (2-0) got wins from Saska Icitovic, first singles, 6-0, 6-1; Wendy Matanganyidze, second singles, 6-4, 6-0; Amanda Pearson, third singles, 6-0, 6-1; Sheba Neak and Stella Athanasopoulos, first doubles, 6-3, 6-1; and Tara Gunderman and Christine Francois, second doubles, 6-1, 6-0.GIRLS LACROSSEFenwick 16, Marian 4At Peabody, Fenwick extended its winning streak to three games, and Becca Graves scored five goals to raise her total to 35 on the young season.”So far, so good,” said Crusader (4-1) coach Karen Guillemette. “Becca’s been great. She’s really been playing up to the expectations.”Graves, whose five-tally performance actually lowered her goals-per-game average, provided an adequate amount of offense on her own, but the team also received a five-goal performance from Anna Moulton. Grace Celona added three scores, Annette Ruggiero beat the keeper twice, and Lauren Moulton scored once.The team’s next game will be Thursday at Lowell Catholic.St. Mary’s 6, AC 5At Arlington Catholic, the Spartans received a hat trick apiece from twins Bridget and Mikeala Donovan.With the score tied at two at the intermission, St. Mary’s (5-1) pulled ahead in the second half, and while AC remained pesky and kept the score tight throughout, goalie Brooke Bergeron’s nine saves helped seal the win.BOYS LACROSSEBC High 14, Peabody 1At BC High, the Eagles improved to 5-0.The game remained close early until the Tanners’ (1-1) play broke down in the second quarter, and BC High rattled off seven goals in the final seven minutes of the opening half. Peabody failed to clear the ball on 14 occasions, which led to six of its opposition’s scores.D.J. Henrick provided the lone goal for the Tanners, and Luke Grayson made 13 saves in the loss.N. Reading 7, Swampscott 4At North Reading, Sean Lannon scored twice to give him nine tallies on the season as the Big Blue fell to 1-3.Goalie Mark McMahon made nine saves against North Reading (6-1), and Chris Masson and Josh Rothwell contributed a goal apiece.Swampscott hopes to rebound Tuesday when the team welcomes Waltham.BOYS TRACKAt the Haverhill Invitational, St. John’s Prep finished third out of 25 teams with 52 points.The Eagles had three winning performances in the nasty weather. Sean Enos won the discus with a season-best throw of 105-3, Bryan Browne took the 200 with a time of 23.2, and the 4×100 relay team of Luis Soto, Nick Pesaturo, Gerald Kahari and Browne placed first with a time of 45.5.The Merrimack Valley Conference’s Central Catholic won the invitational with 62 points, and Whitman-Hanson from the South Shore finished second with 53 points.
