SWAMPSCOTT – A Swampscott man rescued a baby from a neighbor’s roof Monday afternoon while walking his own 2-year-old son to a nearby convenience store.Todd Flannery, 94 Pine St., owner of Flannery’s Handymen and clean-out service, was headed to the store with his son, Shayne, at approximately 4:15 p.m. when he heard a persistent wailing.”I kept hearing this screaming and after we turned the corner it was getting louder and louder,” he said. “I looked across three yards and there was this baby up on a roof, so I took my son and ran around the block to what I think is Superior Street.”According to Flannery, the child was on a flat house roof about 15 feet off the ground. “It was a boy, maybe 2 or 3 years old. He must have kicked out the screen. The whole process was kind of crazy because I had to get my son to sit down while I climbed onto the porch and up to the roof. I grabbed the baby and brought him down. Then I knocked on the door to the house but nobody answered.”Flannery said firefighters arrived on scene and apparently were able to contact the child’s mother.
