Saugus’ Olisa Obiefuna claimed the area’s lone first place finish at the boys MIAA Track & Field Championship Meet held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Obiefuna, a Division 3 athlete, long-jumped a distance of 21-4.5, placing him three spots ahead of Marblehead’s Nolan Raimo (20-09).In other Division 3 action, Swampscott’s Jermaine Kelly finished second in the 55 hurdles (7.87), and Tech’s Ramon Ramos placed sixth in the 55 meter (6.78). The Magician foursome of Noah Bittermann, Ethan Levine, Chris Newman and Henry Pratt finished eighth (8:49.62), and the Big Blue’s Shiloh Clark, Jake Conaty, Peter Hale and Nick Hartmann placed ninth (8:54.73) in the 4×800. Swampscott’s Elijah Clark, Chris Mason, Declan McClung and Erik Murphy ran their way to tenth place in the 4×400 (3:41.53).In Division 1, English’s Melvin Tavares (6.68) finished third and St. John’s Nick Pesaturo (6.8) placed eighth in the 55 meter. In the 600, the Eagles’ Mike Galasso (1:23.33) and Revere’s Mike Fitzpatrick (1:24.83) finished second and eighth, respectively. Peabody’s Evan Braz (2:34.62) placed fifth in the 1,000 and was a member of the Tanners’ sixth-place 4×800 relay squad (8:16.65).Other Peabody winners included Nick Christensen (sixth place in two-mile, 9:39.26) and Zachary Grube (third in high jump, 6-2). For the Prep, Sean Enos (49-1) and Scott Sheehan (48-10) placed fifth and sixth in the shot put; the quartet of Pesaturo, Bryan Browne, Brandon West and Joey Dumas placed eighth (1:34.18) in the 4×200, and the 4×400 team of Michael Galasso, Connor May, Fernando Galvez and West finished third (3:31.39).
