The Lynn Jets made sure their four seniors came away with a win in their final home game, defeating Salem, 3-2, Wednesday at Connery Rink.Salem broke the ice 4:08 into the game on a goal by Eric Rosengren, but the Jets (6-12-1) scored the next three to take a 3-1 lead into the final period. Junior John Finnigan scored the first of his two with 31 seconds left in the first period to tie the game (Kyle Martin and Kyle Devin had the assists).Tony Uva found the net a little over three minutes into the second period (Joe Lannon assist) and Finnigan made it 3-1 35 seconds later. Salem’s Jesse Wilkins cut the deficit to one early in the third, but couldn’t come up with the equalizer.”I give Salem credit. They really were the aggressor early one, but we started to take control a bit late in the first period and into the second. Then it became a dogfight like you knew it would,” Jets coach Joe Conlon said. .”We were happy to survive in the end.”This was the final home game for Lynn seniors Nick Comeau, Joe Lannon, Jordan Morelli and Kyle Martin.”I’m glad our seniors were able to get win in their last home game,” Conlon said. “That’s always a good memory.”Peabody 5, Danvers 2At Rockett Arena in Salem, Danvers jumped out to an early lead three-and-a-half minutes into the first period, but Peabody responded with four unanswered goals on the way to the win.”It was a good game for us,” said Tanner (10-4-3) coach Mark Leonard. “We played three lines, and the whole team played well. We came back strong in the first period and took control in the second.”Mike Chiappini (Rob Houghton) scored his first of a pair of goals at the 6:35 mark in the first, and Eric Muise (Houghton, Chiappini) provided an advantage Peabody would not relinquish 38 seconds later. In the second period, Nico Manganiello (Eric Costa, Steve Hatchouel) and Chiappini (Houghton, Nice DeSalvo) beat the Falcon keeper, and after Danvers cut the lead in half before the second intermission, Houghton (Chiappini, DeSalvo) scored the lone tally of the fourth.Derek Savage returned to the net for the Tanners after missing three games and made 18 saves to help his team rebound after going 0-2-1 in his absence.For Danvers (8-6-3), Seth Kamens stopped 22 shots.Marblehead 8, Revere 1At Rockett Arena in Salem, the Magicians (12-4-3) are undefeated (5-0-1) in their last six games despite Revere drawing first blood on a goal by Mario Mazzarelli.Marblehead scored the next eight goals with two goals from Hunter Whitmore and single tallies by Chris McLeod, Tyler Gelineau, Hunter Graves, Ben Koopman, Ryan Dempsey and Tom Koopman.”The last couple of games, both Whitmores (Hunter and Alex) have been playing very well,” said Magician coach Bob Jackson. “They’re playing forward and defense. They’re giving us a little more scoring punch.”Tony Cuzner was in net for the first two periods for Marblehead, and Mike Harper was between the pipes in the third.Winthrop 4, Gloucester 0At Larsen Arena in Winthrop, the Vikings dominated play in all phases.”We knew it was going to be a dogfight as it always is when you play a rival like Gloucester,” said Winthrop (11-2-4) coach Dale Dunbar. “We really want our first line to set the trend, and they were pretty focused right away.”Nick Clewer opened the scoring 21 seconds in on assists from Chris LeBlanc and Jake Rand. Ryan McKinnon (Clewer, Joe Scarfo) scored the second period’s lone goal, and Rand and Scarfo both beat the keeper in the third on assists from LeBlanc.Steven Waites made 12 saves to collect his fourth shutout of the season. The Fishermen fell to 5-10-2.Triton 3, Lynnfield 1At Vann-O’Keefe in Peabody, Alex Ganter scored Lynnfield’s lone goal on an assist from Derek Maddaleni in the second period, but the team was never able to tie the game after Triton opened with two scores in the first.Pioneer (8-6-4) Craig Cataldo made 14 saves in the loss.
