Public works officials are bracing for a mid-week winter storm that is expected to blanket the North Shore with up to a foot of snow.Lynn Department of Public Works Commissioner Jay Fink said predictions are calling for a significant amount of snow, which is supposed to start Tuesday night.?The numbers (of inches of snow) are all over the place,” Fink said. “I’m sure it will be a plowable event. If the forecast is correct, we will be declaring a snow emergency, possibly as early as Tuesday.”Fink said the majority of the 175 miles of streets in Lynn are in good shape and he expects snow removal operations to go smoothly.?We’ve been working hard to prepare for this storm,” Fink said. “We have been removing snow from the intersections and the streets. Things are looking pretty good right now. Hopefully we won’t have 20 inches. Anything less than that we can handle.”For more information, read Tuesday’s edition of The Daily Item and visit www.itemlive.com.
